Grand Cenote

[En]  Cenotes are natural pits formed by the collapse of limestone bedrock. Thousands of cenotes are found in Mexico, especially in Yucatán Peninsula. These underground swimming pools look so mysterious and amazingly beautiful with morning sunlight. I can't even properly describe how amazing it was to dive into it and to swim with lots of colorful fish.

Mexico

[En]   Hi everyone!  It's been ages since I posted my travel pictures last time! Even myself I had started to forget about the existence of this blog. If you have checked my Instagram I think you might already know, actually I was spending my long vacation in… Mexico!  Have you ever been there?  It was my first time. I must admit that I had very few knowledge about it before going there; the only images I had about Mexico were tacos, cactus, sombrero and mafia. I didn't have any particular aspiration to one of the world's fattest countries, and it was not necessarily on my top 10 travel bucket list. So I had never ever imagined that I would end up spending such a long time there.  Now that I went there, I must say I love it very much!!  During my one-month trip, I've seen some breathtaking views, tried delicious local foods and met many new people. It was very inspiring, ridiculously fun and totally unforgettable. Getting away from the coldness of Paris for a while was a very good idea. I could even say, this trip has changed my attitudes toward life, in a sense. I could get a lot of energy from the sun, just like the dry sand absorbs water. It would be my pleasure to share these positive vibes and the beauty of nature in Mexico with you!

Surreal Monaco

[En]   Hi everyone!  How was your summer vacation? I wanted to end it in an unforgettable way, so I flew to the French Riviera again. A friend of mine hosted a party at his superb villa during the Monaco yacht show. Every time I come to Monaco, I get this confusing feeling…indescribably happy yet somewhat melancholy at the same time. I mean, how come it can be so beautiful? The city is so clean, people are well-dressed and they have successful carrier. It's too glamorous to be real.  Once my good friend described it as "a Disneyland in real life". I totally agree with this idea. What do you think?

Organized Chaos in Shibuya

[En] Hello from Tokyo! Here's the Shibuya "X" Crossing that you have probably seen in Lost In Translation. I love this film very much, as it describes perfectly the strange impression that non-Japanese people will often get when they visit Japan.

Actually, when I first saw it 10 years ago, I didn't like it. I felt rather offended because no Japanese was described as a human with personality : it showcased the Japanese as a mass of incomprehensible small people wearing glasses, who just cannot pronounce the "R" correctly. Maybe I was not prepared to laugh at the cliché of my own culture at that time. Little by little, I started to appreciate the film, maybe because I've learned to look at my own culture objectively as I've lived abroad.

Now I know how the protagonist felt, who was lost and confused in this funny and strange country (and in her life), as I've been struggling to get readapted in it, too. I'm Japanese but I might not be fully integrated in their society. I feel this especially when I overlook the busy Shibuya intersection from Starbucks Coffee located on the 2nd floor of Tsutaya building, built just in front of it. When the lights turn red, they all turn red at the same time in every direction, which means traffic completely stops and pedestrians surge into the intersection, like marbles spilling out of a box. There are so many people, yet it is strangely organized. It's quite a spectacular view!

Book Hunting in Daikanyama

[En] I like the overall air of coolness in Daikanyama neighborhood. My New Yorker friend told me that the closest comparison in NYC would be the West Village. It's sophisticated yet cozy. There is also one of my favourite places in Tokyo in this area, called Daikanyama T-Site, opened a few years ago ; It's a complex of a bookstore, cafes and restaurants etc, delicately curated and designed. Its bookstore, called Tsutaya, has a fantastic collection of books on travel, art and design. Just look at these three stylishly interlinked buildings. Have you noticed these interlocking t-shapes on the façade which subtly reference the logo of Tsutaya brand ?

Impressed in Sevilla

[En] I was cleaning up data in my computer and just found pictures of Spain that I had visited a while ago, so I'd like to share some of them with you. Sevilla is the capital of Andalusia, which is famous for bullfight and flamenco. There are many touristic spots such as a cathedral, squares, towers and Carmen's tobacco factory. I was impressed by magnificent Mudéjar style architecture, which is the unique convergence of Arabic and European cultures. I loved walking through the streets as well as spending peaceful afternoons on a bench at the beautiful María Luisa park, which is full of nature and culture. It was like an urban oasis.
