Organized Chaos in Shibuya

[En] Hello from Tokyo! Here's the Shibuya "X" Crossing that you have probably seen in Lost In Translation. I love this film very much, as it describes perfectly the strange impression that non-Japanese people will often get when they visit Japan.

Actually, when I first saw it 10 years ago, I didn't like it. I felt rather offended because no Japanese was described as a human with personality : it showcased the Japanese as a mass of incomprehensible small people wearing glasses, who just cannot pronounce the "R" correctly. Maybe I was not prepared to laugh at the cliché of my own culture at that time. Little by little, I started to appreciate the film, maybe because I've learned to look at my own culture objectively as I've lived abroad.

Now I know how the protagonist felt, who was lost and confused in this funny and strange country (and in her life), as I've been struggling to get readapted in it, too. I'm Japanese but I might not be fully integrated in their society. I feel this especially when I overlook the busy Shibuya intersection from Starbucks Coffee located on the 2nd floor of Tsutaya building, built just in front of it. When the lights turn red, they all turn red at the same time in every direction, which means traffic completely stops and pedestrians surge into the intersection, like marbles spilling out of a box. There are so many people, yet it is strangely organized. It's quite a spectacular view!

Love in Portofino

[En]    Portofino is one of the favourite towns of the jet set, and it has been so immortalized in movies and songs that its name is recognizable all over the world as a romantic paradise. Ever since I watched a short movie shot in Portofino by talented photographer Ellen Von Unwerth for Dior 2012 cruise collection, I had been dreaming of spending my vacation there (ok…I guess now you've heard enough…I'll never get tired of shouting out my love for this French maison which embodies authentic elegance! ), but this small fishing village offered me much more than I could have ever expected.  Narrow alleys, the lively cafés, and the amazing colors of nature…I was highly inspired by its atmosphere. Savouring fine seafood looking at the beautiful Mediterranean Sea was a real pleasure.  I'll come back soon Portofino <3

Mesmerizing Cinque Terre

[En]    Ciao everyone ! Some of you asked me what I'd been doing as I haven't been active on social media lately, so here's my answer : I've just spent my short vacation in Italy, specifically on Italian Riviera.  First I'd like to tell you about my first visit on Cinque Terre. These five fishing villages named Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore, set amid some of the most dramatic coastal scenery on the planet, are UNESCO world heritage sites.  Rooted in antiquity, Cinque Terre's five villages date from the early medieval period.  They've been isolated from other parts of the country for a long period of time because of their geographical inaccessibility.  Even today it's not very easy to go there, but the view of colorfully-painted buildings on the hills in perfect harmony with nature is very much worth seeing (each village has its own charm, but I think my favorite one is Manarola, which is small yet full of attraction) !

Gold Night by Chopard

[En]    The past two weeks in French Riviera were insane and magical. I attended a number of parties and every one of them was a great fun. Especially the much talked-about Chopard's gala evening was one of the best. The concept of this year was Gold, which took guests to a reconstructed gold mine to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Palme d'Or. All the attendees were ridiculously beautiful and marvelously dressed up, among them were there Uma Thurman, Irina Shayk, Toni Garrn, Adriana Lima, Erin O'Connor, Poppy Delevingne, and Michelle Rodriguez to name only a few. It started with Robbie Williams's exclusive live performance. I must say that I almost felt dizzy because of the gorgeousness of the party. The funniest part of the night is that one of my friend went up on stage as a joke, then everyone followed him. That's why I ended up dancing to DJ Cassidy. Big thank you to co-president of Chopard Caroline Scheufele, who threw such a beautiful soirée!
